Joshua Heying is a lyric tenor from the Seattle area. He moved to Eugene to study music and spent acouple years directing On the Rocks, the all-male a-cappella ensemble at the University of Oregon. He has been singing with the University’s Chamber Choir for five years, and really enjoys working with composition students at the University whenever they need a singer for a performance of their work. Josh is currently featured in a new chamber opera called “The Canticle of the Black Madonna” which is inspired by early opera and will be premiered in February of 2012 in Portland and Eugene. Above all, his most enjoyable and rewarding singing experiences have happened with Vox Resonat, particularly because of the focus on pre-baroque and baroque music. In his free time he directs two local high-school/middle school a-cappella groups, and enjoys taking care of his chickens.
